A True Friend Indeed
Rambo came into Maggie's life a couple of weeks ago. The moment she saw him, she fell in love with him. The moment she saw him, she knew that he was meant to be a part of her life. This furry canine friend of hers soon started following her everywhere.
Maggie's day typically started with a visit to the woods from where she collected logs for the fireplace. On her way, she would indulge in small conversations with her neighbours and friends. She loved the chirping of birds, gushing sound of wind and always came back energised. Very soon, this became the daily routine for Rambo as well.
The only sad thing was that nobody knew where Rambo came from and who owned him. This was the only concern for Maggie's dad. He was not very keen on keeping a stray animal in his house. Maggie would always pick up a fight whenever her dad called Rambo a "stray dog." For a twelve-year-old like Maggie, Rambo was a true friend - a friend who always accompanied her, a friend who never left her alone and a friend who was her strength. Rambo was available whenever Maggie's dad left for work. The vacuum in the house was soon filled up by Rambo. The nightmares that she got faded away with just a cuddle from Rambo.
Rambo's presence in the house was, in fact, a relief for Maggie's dad too, but he hardly expressed it. He did not want to hurt his daughter. He knew that Rambo had to go one day, back to where he came from. In fact, he had once managed to take Rambo to a far off place and leave him there. He did so because he wanted Rambo to find his folks. That day was unforgettable for both Maggie and her dad. Maggie was devastated. She couldn't eat or drink. She realised how much Rambo meant to her. She cried for days, her eyes were swollen, she became pale and weak. Surprisingly Rambo returned after a couple of days. Maggie's joy knew no bounds. She was jumping around with happiness. That day she decided that she would never leave Rambo for anyone, not even his real owners. She was so sure that Rambo also shared the same feelings for her. Of course, that's exactly why he came back to her.
Months passed, Rambo became friendly with everyone around him. He was the darling of the neighbourhood. One fine day, Maggie's dad got to know that a middle-aged couple was in their village in search of their pet. Initially, he thought it would be best to hide the news from Maggie. But the news spread like wildfire. The whole neighbourhood was shaken. They couldn't imagine even a day without Rambo. Maggie's home became dull and quiet once again. She spent a whole day in pensive mood, without food and water. Poor Rambo was equally sad; perhaps he could sense the tension in the air. Although Maggie's dad was disturbed, he kept a calm face just to be strong in front of his daughter.
Rambo's owners might come anytime. Will Rambo be theirs? If so, will they force him to accompany them? Will he go back to them?
